MAQLA | Recommendations


We don’t want to tell you where you should go. Venice is a marvellous an unique city in the world. You can find everything and places to visit in internet. But here, we would like to recommend you these special places or experiences we have found in the city out of the usual guides. Of course, there more places, activities,… but we have experienced these ones and we would like to share them with you.


Venice is plenty of Bacari where you can taste cicchetti and drink wine at very good prices.

  • Il Bacareto da Lele.
    Fondamenta e Campo dei Tolentini, Santa Croce 183.
    To eat outside in the “Campo”, very expensive and good quality (8 € for 5 cicchetti & 2 glass of wine, for example). No reservations. Look for it in google and tripadvisor.
    2-10 €/person.

  • Hostaria Bacanera.
    Campiello de la Cason, Cannaregio 4506.
    Excellent quality. Ask for Valentino (from Emilio Llobat). Great wines. Terrace and interior tables.

  • Pizzeria 1000 Gourmet.
    Calle Specchieri, San Marco 475.
    Very good pizzas & “pasta”. Always plenty of people. Make reservation with time (day/s before) or you can go directly and wait (usually long time)

  • Ostaria alla frasca.
    Corte della Carità, Cannaregio 5176.
    Very good quality in a special outside calm terrace. No interior tables. Taste the desserts (special pannacotta). Same owner than Ostaria Bocadoro.

  • Ristorante Casin dei Nobili.
    Fondamenta Lombardo, Dorsoduro 2765.
    Good quality. Interior and courtyard tables.

  • Majer.
    There are several Majer in the city where you can taste brioches, bachery, pastry, coffee,….Look for them in Google or:


Bottle shops with a large selection of regional wines as well as from around Italy. And “vino sfuso”, bulk wine, available for 3-4 €/liter.


You can find several at 4 minutes walking from the apartment.

  • Rialto’s Market.
    Very recommended fresh fish and food market, near Rialto’s Bridge.
    Calle Prima de la Donzella, 306.
    Fish market: tuesday to saturday, 7:30 am-13:00 am.
    Fruits and vegetables market: monday to Saturday, 7:30 am-13:00 am.

  • Artisan place where Paolo Brandolisio makes “forcole”. The “forcola” is the typical venetian rowlock for the “gondola”. He also works it as a sculpture you can buy in several sizes. Castello, 4725 / +39 041 5224155 /
